In 1984 Apple Computer unveiled their Macintosh. It included a new user interface that revolutionized the way people though about computer interaction. Originally referred to as simply 'Macintosh System', the underlying OS was a single-tasking disk system for the Motorola 68K CPU. Significant changes were made in MacOS 7.x.

Mac System Software 1.0 was initially released on 24 January 1984 for the Macintosh, now called the Macintosh 128K or Mac128K. 4 builds of 1.0 have been leaked ranging from a different GUI called 'Flounder', to the Finder. Apple released 1.1 with faster Disk Copy speeds and new Special menu commands. It was released on 29 December 1984.
